President Signs Executive Orders to Identify Sanctuary Cities

Jurisdictions not cooperating with federal immigration enforcement will have federal funding frozen.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday to identify when and where local law enforcement is being prevented from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.

The order, titled “Protecting American Communities from Criminal Aliens,” directs the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security to publish a list of areas where local law enforcement did not comply with ICE, calling these obstructions a “lawless insurrection against the supremacy of Federal law” within the order’s text. It then directs the agencies to designate these areas as “sanctuary jurisdictions,” which will then be eligible to have their federal funding suspended or terminated.

“It’s quite simple,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt during a press briefing. “Obey the law, respect the law, and don’t obstruct federal immigration officials and law enforcement officials when they are simply trying to remove public safety threats from our nation’s communities.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the president and members of his administration as they seek to enforce federal immigration laws.
  • For federal judges as they hear and rule on challenges to the actions of President Trump.
  • For ICE agents as they seek to detain and deport criminal illegal aliens.
